I Thought I Could Heal Myself Alone...

While many of us have spent years doing the deep inner work required for healing, we still need support from others to help clear the hurdles we can’t manage alone. This is why we have coaches, energy healers, shamans, psychics, tarot readers, and medicine people throughout the centuries.

When I first began my spiritual path in 2018, I learned a couple of modalities that I expected myself to master. I became a coach and a reiki healer. Coaching came naturally – I had long served as a sounding board and wise council to many friends and colleagues. Now I had a toolbox to support people without taking away their personal power.

Coaching was intuitive, with measurable progress in every session. When I worked with clients long enough, I saw real, meaningful change happening.

Reiki was different. I resisted it, convinced there was a right and wrong way. I hesitated to practice, worried clients wouldn’t feel anything. This perfectionism was familiar - I’d always assumed that just learning something meant I should master it immediately. If only I’d had someone to remind me that being a beginner was okay, that mastery comes through practice.

I hid my newly acquired talents, secretly hoping no one would ask for a healing. Yet the reiki energy flowed naturally during coaching sessions, bringing profound clarity and flow to each relationship.

As I evolved my practice – integrating more healing modalities – my spiritual senses grew. Shamanism reconnected me to Earth, sound, and journeying. Psychic development strengthened my inner wisdom. Each oracle deck brought consistent guidance.

But this growth reinforced my belief that I should figure out everything alone. Because I had so many tools, I felt I should heal myself. I was too embarrassed to ask for help.

“Healer, Heal Thyself,” they say.

While I desperately wanted clearer direction to unblock deeply ingrained patterns, I kept trying to use my existing tools. But the patterns kept resurfacing. Anyone who has felt that familiar tug of a known belief pattern return knows what I mean.

Then I had a call with a trusted colleague who listened to my doubts about my next business phase. Without judgment, she compassionately suggested I seek support from a healer.

The truth was – I believed in healing. I knew its power. I shared stories about others’ gifts with anyone who would listen. I knew how important it was to receive healing. But I hadn’t allowed myself the same grace.

It was such a relief to remember I could ask for help. I had a network of healers willing to support me. Maybe my existing tools weren’t enough for this next phase of healing – a phase that felt urgent for my path ahead.

So I reached out to a trusted healer and felt a weight lift from my shoulders. The moment I allowed myself to receive support, everything shifted.

Maybe you're reading this and wondering why you can't move past certain blocks in your life, relationships, or career. Maybe you're exhausted from facing uncertainty while trying your absolute best, but somehow still coming up short. If this resonates, please hear this: It's okay to ask for help. It's safe to receive healing from someone else that you cannot give yourself. You don't have to do it alone.

You are not alone.

Sending you love,

Amanda
