Your Dreams Are Closer Than They Appear (Here's How)
We all have dreams for the future. I know I certainly do. And every time I think about what I want to create, that dream grows. It becomes more vivid, more tangible in my mind - even while it often feels so far away.
The future comes closer when we allow ourselves to dream.
In the past, I would spend time thinking about a BIG BOLD BRIGHT future. I’d have idea upon idea of what I wanted, and I would yearn for it like nothing I can easily describe. There was a huge feeling of separation between ME and IT. It felt hard to reach. Unattainable.
But I’ve since learned that it’s not only about dreaming big, but about allowing yourself to see the true possibility of what you’re creating. Not to envision something so far-fetched you can’t even imagine yourself within it - which only further separates you from that thing you want.
As you think about your dreams, allow yourself to find even just one element you can connect with - something that feels exciting, expansive, fun. Then imagine yourself truly living that life - leaning into that possibility and that reality.
It’s then that your dreams start to feel real, like they are actually yours and possible for you.
One of the best ways I know to do this is through visualization. Here’s how:
Step 1: Imagine the future you’re dreaming of - perhaps it’s a singular goal, or an entire shift in your way of being. Write it down. Capture the details of your vision, how it feels, how it looks, what you want to come true.
Step 2: Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Breathing in. Breathing out. Bring your body into a state of calm. Then imagine yourself living that reality. How do you look? How do you feel? How do you dress? Who surrounds you? Really lean into the visual. Know that it IS real - even if it feels like imagination for now.
Step 3: Fill your heart with gratitude, thanking yourself and all the powers that be which are conspiring to support your vision. Slowly open your eyes again to the room. Write down what you experienced.
Wait and see what happens.
This is the process I've used for every major transition in my life - including finding the right home twice in London. The clearer I could see what I was searching for, the easier it was to recognize it when it crossed my path.
Wishing you equal joy in the process! Feel free to hit reply and let me know what you experienced.
With love,
Amanda
