Finding the Sacred in Everyday Life: A Journey Through Glastonbury

What does it mean for something to be sacred? Is it sacred because we deem it so? Is it sacred because someone told us it was? Or is it, perhaps, sacred because we feel reverence and awe when we approach it.

Through it all, I've been collecting moments of reverence and reflection, none more profound than my recent journey to Glastonbury, UK with a very special client of mine to visit the sacred sites. While most Brits know this precious land for its famous music festival, people travel far and wide to connect in with the sacred waters and energies of the land.

It is the land where King Arthur is said to have roamed, and where the energy of the goddess is intricately woven into day-to-day life. And as you wander through the sites, or on the high street, you see a plethora of folks embodying their own version of sacredness, from those who take a more hedonistic approach to spirituality, to the fairies, to the crystal junkies and tarot readers. Everyone can find their place amongst the mystical energy of the land.

Our adventure was focused on deepening our connection to the land, finding sacredness in the trees and plants, and allowing our own feminine energies to rise up through us to the surface. We spent our nights at the Apothecary Garden — a beautiful and soulful retreat from the busyness of our everyday lives, and found wisdom in the rose bushes, the donkeys, and the garden beds laid for healing herbs.

Our days began with intention, connection to the place, to our hopes and desires for the day to come, and embodying the spiritual in our waking consciousness. We interwove the sacred with the mundane, staying awake to the shifting energies and feelings that ran through us at each stop on our journey.

From the whispers of the divine at the Chalice Well, to the blend of light and shadow in the White Spring, to the whipping winds on top of the Glastonbury Tor. Each place we walked held a new wisdom, inviting us to go deeper within to listen to its messages.

The experience was transformative — giving my beautiful client the space she needed to connect within and find her blossoming wisdom, and giving me the confidence and nourishment that I needed to stand more fully in my own power and knowing. I learned to show up and decide that I am enough, and that the work itself was enough. I learned to trust the nudges and nuance that feels like it comes from within as knowing rose up to the surface. And I learned to surrender and allow the universe to have its turn at guiding us through our time together, offering us bread, soup, and a sacred guide to explore our inner landscape.

I learned to trust that life can be easy, that the universe will provide, and that magic is created in the moments we fill with awe and wonder.

It was an honor to host such a transformational retreat for my client, and to have the privilege to experience the profound change that came with it as well.

As I write this from my new home in Totteridge, unpacking boxes and creating a fresh sacred space, I'm reflecting on how every experience - from the vibrant streets of Bangkok to the quiet moments of recovery, from the professional connections in Amsterdam to the spiritual awakening in Glastonbury — has contributed to a deeper understanding of what it means to find sacredness in both the extraordinary and the ordinary moments of life.

I hope you, too, find what is sacred to you today.

With love,

Amanda

P.S. If you feel called to explore your own sacred journey, to discover the magic that exists in both the extraordinary and everyday moments of your life, I'd love to connect. I'm creating space for 4 new clients on the journey of awakening to their sacred and healing gifts beginning January 2025. Use this link to schedule a call and let's talk.
